Upcoming Events | The Winter Springs High School Army JROTC Drill team returned from the National High School Drill Team Championships Monday, 7 May 2007, with multiple event trophies and the National fourth runner up title. During the exhausting two-day drill meet featuring the top 150 schools in the Nation, the team earned top 10 places in every event. Two cadets earned individual recognitions among nearly participating 4600 cadets. Judges rated Christine Pons the number two individual rifle exhibitionist in the United States and in the Armed Knockout Drill Angelina Ajdukovic earned the number 21 slot. The Winter Springs cadets have concluded this very successful season with multiple drill victories throughout the school year including the Army State Championship as well as this fourth runner up in the National Drill Championships. Winter Springs High School, which first opened in fall of 1997 has had great success. But no better success than its very own Army Jrotc Drill Team. Our cadets train hard all-year long after school for 2 hours a day to keep the reigning title as the Winter Spring Bears. Going to nationals and placing in the top 10 let alone the top 5 is not easy to do. Hoooah! Competing on a average of 6 drill meets a year make it a very tough activity to stick with. The Males and the Golden bears strive to be the nothing but the best in drill, which proves true when the team competes annually in the Nationals held in Daytona Florida.
