Hunny Bear All-Stars

Hunny Bears
The WSHS Hunnybear dance team and director, Rebekah Krausman, attended UDA camp at Stetson University from July 7-10. Six team members competed and were selected for the highest individual recognition as a UDA All-Star. Those six dancers were Kelsey Chalmers, Melissa Gregory, Megan Hart, Brittany Knipe, Jenny Knipe and Kelsey Ripple. On November 23rd, Melissa Gregory and Kelsey Ripple will travel to New York City to represent WSHS and the Hunnybear dance team at the 82nd annual Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade.

Community Service

Attention to all students interested in gaining community service, college and career opportunities!

The first Organizing Leaders and Achievers meeting will be held on Tuesday, September 16th. The meeting is open to all current and future members. OLA applications are now available for pick up in Mrs. Underdown's room, 6-105, and must be submitted by Tuesday, September 23rd.

Bowling

Girls and boys bowling teams defeated Lake Howell each by 4-3. Next bowling match will be at Casselberry

SWAT & SADD

We will meet Monday, 9/8/08 right after school in Mrs. Iannuzzi's room, 2-120. New members welcomed.

Best Buddies

It takes two to make a friendship, but only one to make a difference. Be a member of the best club at Winter Springs High - join Best Buddies. Our chapter won state and national awards last year and we want this year to be even better. Get information and applications at Bear Bash or in room 6-122.

Business Professionals of America

Attention all students interested in joining Business Professionals of America Club: join us after school on Friday, September 12th at 2:30 pm in room 6-109 for pizza and drinks to find out more information about the club.

College Announcements

If you are interested in attending Emory University in Atlanta next year, please see your guidance councilor for possible scholarships.

Davison College will be on campus on Sept. 10th at 11:30 am.

University of Tampa will be on campus Sept. 12th at 9:30 am.

Florida State University will be on campus Sept. 15th at 7:30 am.

UCF and Florida Southern will be on campus on Sept. 29th.

Oxford University will be on campus on October 3rd - Please stop in the college room during lunches 1 or 2 on Tuesday or Wednesday to sign up!

Visit the college room to sign up for any of these college visits.

The college room is now open during 1st and 2nd lunch on Tuesday and Wednesday for students to stop in.

Yearbook

Attention Students: Yearbook needs pictures of you and your friends at the beach and concerts.  If you are interested in having your pictures in the yearbook, please send them to Ms. Walrath in room 7-210.  You may also drop photos off at the front dest, or e-mail digitals to Michelle_Walrath@scps.k12.fl.us.  Please be sure to include your name on any photos that need to be returned, as well as the names of any students pictured in the photograph. 

Yearbook Sales:  Yearbooks are now on sale for $75, and the following items may be purchased in addition to your book: name stamp ($8), protective plastic cover ($2), and additional autograph pages ($2).  Students wishing to purchase a book may stop by room 7-210 during 3rd or 6th period.  In addtion, you may wish to note that the Orientation price of $70 will be revisited during Bear Bash, which will be held on Friday, September 5, from 5-7 pm.  This is the only time there will be a discount from the $75 price.  These prices also apply for students wishing to purchase the previous year's yearbook.   

Underclassmen Pictures: Underclassmen pictures will be taken in the Auditorium during your English class period on Thursday, September 4, 2008. Students will be receiving portrait package pricing in advance, which will be due the day of pictures.

Seniors Pictures: Leonard's is our new official school photographer. Seniors should contact Leonard's at 407-831-1900 to arrange a sitting for their senior picture. The sitting fee is $10, which is a $5 reduction over last year's sitting fee with our former photography group. The deadline for senior picture sittings is Friday, September 19, 2008. Any seniors who do not meet this deadline will not be guaranteed inclusion in the yearbook.

Senior Memory Pages: The deadline for submitting senior memory (and club) pages is Friday, September 12, 2008. Please be sure to include the text and appropriate number of photos, or send via e-mail to Michelle_Walrath@scps.k12.fl.us. Current pricing is as follows:

2 Pages: $700

1 Page: $360

1/2 Page: $225

1/4 Page: $150

1/8 Page: $100

Driver Education Information

Evening Driver's Ed for 1st semester will be offered at WSHS and Lyman Classes are on Monday/Wednesday or Tuesday/Thursday from 3:15 PM - 5:15 PM applications are available in Guidance and on the WSHS webpage. Registration ends on THURSDAY, Agust 28, 2008 AT 11:00AM. No late applications will be accepted. Monday/Wednesday class starts on Wednesday, September 3, 2008 and the Tuesday/Thursday calss starts on Tuesday, September 2, 2008.

Cheerleader Tryouts

Fall tryouts for ANYONE interested in cheerleading will be September 2-5. Packets available in room 7-217 and or online: Application and Freshman Information Packet.

SAT Class
