Tryouts

Those interested in trying out for the 2010 baseball team Conditioning will begin on January 4th at 2:45. Monday – Friday 2:45 – 4:00 approximately. We will meet at baseball field.  Don’t be late! Please wear short, t-shirt and running shoes.  (dress according to the weather) You must have a physical in order to participate. Unless you are participating in another sport at WSHS, you are expected to be at the conditioning. Tryouts will begin January 18th.  Start time will be determined. If you have any questions, you can email Coach Perez.

Former Winter Springs High School Baseball Player Passes Away

Former Bear infielder, class of 2002, Joe Lindner passed away on September 4, 2009.  He was only 25.  Joe was an integral part of the early years of the Bear program.  He was essentially a two year varsity starter and a four year participant in baseball.  He was a tireless worker and had a tremendous sense of humor.  Joe recently had entered school to become an EMT/Firefighter.  He also devoted a lot of his free time by giving back to the Bears’ baseball program.  Joe was an assistant coach over a span of a year and a half.  It wasn’t until recently that he gave up coaching to work and attend school full time.  Joe’s father Frank and mother Kathy were and always will be huge supporters of WSHS baseball.  Frank was the game announcer for many years.  Joe’s sister Christina was also a Winter Springs Alumni.  In a tragic turn of events Frank passed away on September 19, 2009.  Our heartfelt thoughts and prayers go out to the Kathy and Christina during this unbelievably difficult time.  Joseph and Frank we miss you!

Scholarship Signing

Senior Ben Nelson has received his official appointment and will be attending the United States Naval Academy in the fall.  Ben has run cross-country and is currently playing baseball for WSHS. He will be playing baseball for the Midshipmen as a pitcher. The Naval Academy is a member of the NCAA Division I in baseball. Winter Springs High School would like to congratulate Ben on the fantastic accomplishment.
