 CRITERIA FOR EARNING A
 VARSITY CROSS-COUNTRY LETTER

To earn a Varsity Cross-Country letter at Winter Springs H.S. is a challenging endeavor. It is not given away based upon political reasons or family stature but earned through hard work, commitment to excellence and total sacrifice of time and effort. Only the bravest athletes reach the pinnacle of true Varsity Club membership. This is an elite Club of former Conference, District, and Regional Champions with many years of top ten State finishes. With pride only, does a Coach present this prestigious award at the end of a long competitive season.  Below you will find the key points for how to earn the aluminous Golden WS.

  • An athlete must finish the season in good standing. If you leave the team before the end of the season for any reason, go to another team, dismissed from the team, etc. you will not be eligible for any award or letter.
  • To be eligible for a Varsity Cross-Country Letter an athlete must be a member of the Varsity Team! Junior Varsity Runners are not eligible.
  • Freshman Class Varsity runners must compete in four races to earn a letter.
  • Sophomore Class Varsity runners must compete in three races to earn a letter.
  • Junior Class Varsity runners must compete in two races to earn a letter.
  • Senior Class Varsity runners must compete in one race to earn a letter.
