Katherine Penn delivered a pinch hit rbi double in the top of the 12th inning scoring Katie Mandigo last Thursday leading to a Winter Springs championship in softball’s 6A-District 3. Amanda Brown followed Penn with a two-out, two run single to give the Bears a final margin of 7-4. The Bears jumped out to an early 4-0 lead on a Hagerty error and a three-run homer by Kiersten Coffman. Hagerty would rally to tie the score at 4-4 in the sixth. However, the Bears made several stellar defensive plays highlighted by Katie Mandigo's dive to snare a sinking line drive in the bottom of the ninth keeping the Huskies from scoring again. Elizabeth Birle pitched two innings of shutout ball without allowing a Husky runner in the 11th and 12th to claim the victory.

The Bears will host Timber Creek at the softball field on Wednesday.
Game time is 7.
