2005 Season

Regional Playoffs

The Lady Bears Fastpitch softball team defeated Gainesville Buchholz 5-4 in 8 innings to advance to the regional semifinals of the state playoffs. Winter Springs took a 3- 0 lead into the seventh thanks to a 2 rbi double by Richelle Raley and the pitching of Christine Roser. Buchholz rallied on four hits and an error to tie the game in the 7th and take a one run lead into the bottom of the 8th. After an out, Roser drew a walk. Richelle Raley scored pinch runner Aubrey Wingo with her second double of the night. After another out, Becca Davis doubled home Kasey Demastus for the game winner. Brandi Wisniewski pitched three innings in relief for the win. The Bears play Tuesday, May 12th at Boone High School.
The game begins at 7. COME OUT AND SUPPORT THE TEAM!

District Playoffs

Congratulations to the Winter Springs Fastpitch softball team for winning the 6A - District 2 championship Friday night at Sperling Park in Deland. Kristen Hinkle started her 3-3 night by leading off the home half of the first inning with a homerun to give the Bears a 1-0 lead. After Deltona fought back to take a 3-1 lead the Bears offense went into high gear. Hinkle doubled to lead off the 3rd and scored on Christine Roser's single. The Bears tied the score the next inning on a single by Becca Davis and never looked back. Lauren Ely doubled home a run in the fifth and Roser once again scored Hinkle, who had singled with two outs, by hitting her school record 26th double. Brandi Wisniewski pitched 4 1/3 innings of 2 hit ball game in relief of Richelle Raley to record her 5th win of the season. The Bears begin regional play Thursday night at 7:00 against Gainesville Bucholz at home.

Congratulations to the Lady Bears for qualifying for the District 2 championship Friday night versus Deltona. Winter Springs defeated Deland 7-1 in the early game behind Christine Roser’s 3 hitter. Kristen Hinkle had 3 hits, Christine Roser added 2 doubles, Jenna Colonel had a double and her first career homerun, Lauren Ely added a rbi double, Morgan Mason added a rbi single, and Chelsea Putnam hit a triple to lead the Bear attack.

In the nightcap, Richelle Raley pitched a two-hitter against Seminole as the Bears once again raced out to an early 3-0 lead. Kristen Hinkle led the game off with a single and scored on Christine Roser’s 23rd double of the year. After a walk to Morgan Mason, Becca Davis hit a double to score Roser. Lauren Ely squeezed Aubrey Wingo in for the final run of the inning. The Bears and Raley were in control all game constantly putting pressure on the Noles’ defense and playing error free in the field. Jenna Colonel scored the game’s final run after her third hit of the game when Roser singled her in.

Seminole Player of the Week

Morgan Mason hit 3 consecutive home runs over 2 games.

In the Lake Howell game the Bears were led offensively by Morgan Mason who went 3-4 with a double and two homeruns with five rbi’s. Morgan became the Winter Springs High School record holder for career homeruns .

In the University game Morgan continued her torrid hitting streak going 3-3 with two doubles

Winter Springs 3, Deltona 1

Winter Springs won a big district road game with a 3-1 victory over Deltona High School. Christine Roser pitched a 4 hitter giving up an unearned run in the bottom of the 7th for her 8th win of the season. Christine also went 2-3 at the plate with a pair of doubles. Becca Davis tripled in the first run for the Bears and Roser and Richelle Raley added rbi's for the final run count.

Winter Springs 4, University 1

Winter Springs defeated University High School last night by a score of 4-1 behind the two hit pitching of Brandi Wisniewski. Christine Roser drove in Kristen Hinkle with her 17th double of the year in the bottom of the first and added a sacrifice fly later on. Morgan Mason continued her torrid hitting streak going 3-3 with two doubles.

Winter Springs 22, Lake Howell 1

Congratulations to the Lady Bears fastpitch team on their 22-1 victory over conference foe Lake Howell. The Bears were led offensively by Morgan Mason who went 3-4 with a double and two homeruns with five rbi’s. Morgan became the Winter Springs High School record holder for career homeruns. Christine Roser was 2-3 with her 16th double of the season, Becca Davis added a double and a run scoring single. Kristen Hinkle and Chelsea Putnam added triples to the Bears 15 hit attack. Richelle Raley went 3-3 to help her cause as she also pitched a four hitter to record her first career win. The Bears travel to Deltona Monday, April 11 for a key district match-up and play at home Tuesday, April 12 against University at 5/7.

Winter Springs 4, Lake Brantley 1

Winter Springs Lady Bears defeated Lake Brantley 4-1 last night behind the 4 hit pitching of sophomore Brandi Wisniewski. Kristen Hinkle continued her torrid hitting going 3-4 with a homerun and a double. Lauren Ely and Aubrey Wingo also doubled for the Bears. Becca Davis, Tini Roser, and Brandi Wisniewski all added hits for Winter Springs.

Spruce Creek 1, Winter Springs 0

The Bears Tini Roser threw 10 1/3 innings of no hit ball but Winter Springs could not score against Kelsie Dunn and Spruce Creek. The Bears threatened early in the game on a Ashley Scharbarth single and Jacqueline Piercefied double but could not get a clutch hit.

Seminole 3, Winter Springs 2

Seminole High School jumped out to an early 3-0 lead and held on to win a key district game 3-2 over Winter Springs. Seminole made some excellent defensive plays late in the game to seal the victory.

Winter Springs is leading West Orange 4-3

In a game suspended because of inclement weather, Winter Springs is leading West Orange 4-3. Nicole Strevens had the big hit for the Bears. After Kristen Hinkle stole third and Tini Roser followed her to second, Nikki hit a two-strike, two out double into the right field gap to help Winter Springs overcome some early defensive difficulties to take the lead. The game will be completed later this season.

Winter Springs 5, Deland 0

The Lady Bears bounced back from their first loss of the season to shut-out Deland 5-0 in District play. Kristen Hinkle led the Bears with three singles. Christine Roser added a double and pitched 6 2/3 innings of 1 hit ball striking out 13 in raising her personal record to 4-1. Rebecca Davis had three rbi's; Jenna Colonel added a hit and an rbi, and Morgan Mason had a hit.

Winter Springs 1, Lake Mary 2

The Lady Bears suffered their first defeat Friday night at the hands of conference rival Lake Mary 2-1 in 13 innings. The pitching was good for both teams; however, Hope Bitzer of Lake Mary had the better night pitching all 13 innings and striking out 16. WSHS went ahead in the fourth as Nicole Strevens scored on a dropped ball by the Rams' catcher. Lake Mary tied the game in the bottom of the sixth on a two out double and won it in the bottom of the 13th as Bitzer scored on a double.

Winter Springs 4, Deltona 3

The Lady Bears Fastpitch Softball team ran its record to 5- 0 with a comeback victory over district foe Deltona. Christine Roser, Becca Davis, and Lauren Ely led the way with two hits apiece while Jacqueline Piercefield and Ashley Scharbarth added rbi singles. Richelle Raley hit a towering double off the left field fence to start the scoring in the bottom of the sixth. Christine Roser pitched 7 innings for the win to raise her record to 4-0 on the season.

Winter Springs 12, Colonial 2

Lauren Ely led the home half of the first off with a single and was promptly doubled home by Richelle Raley. This set the tone for the night as the Bears scored 12 runs in route to a 12 -2 victory over Colonial High School. Christine Roser continued to provide plenty of support at the plate with 3 hits. Becca Davis and Lauren Ely had two hits, Kristen Hinkle contributed a rbi triple. Aubrey Wingo, Ashley Scharbarth, Richelle Raley, and Morgan Mason all had hits for the Bears.

Winter Springs 4, Lyman 0

Christine Roser continued her early season dominance of area teams pitching her second consecutive shut-out and hitting a three-run homerun in the top of the first for a 4- 0 win over Lyman. The Bears began the scoring early. Lauren Ely led the game off with a single and moved to second on a single by Richelle Raley. Roser then sent a 2- 1 offering from Lyman pitcher Stephanie Elrod to deep right center field. Roser capped the scoring by singling in Kristen Hinkle with two outs in the 5th inning.

Winter Springs 3, Lake Howell 0

Christine Roser pitched a complete game shut-out as well as hitting a two run homer in the bottom of the sixth inning. Freshman Lauren Ely scored on a two-out single from fellow freshman Richelle Raley for the first run of the game.

Winter Springs 6, Edgewater 2

The Bears game back from an early deficit to pick up their second victory of the year. Brandi Wisniewski pitched a complete game for the win, striking out 8 and giving up 5 hits. Brittany Memoli, Lauren Ely, and Christine Roser had two hits each. Richelle Raley contributed 2 rbi's with a double off the top of the wall in left center. Morgan Mason kept up her stellar defense behind the plate throwing out her third and fourth runners of the year while only giving up one stolen base.
