SAC Champs

Finishing the regular season with a 13-1 record.

Below is a recap from Coach Huaman:

After a sluggish start, the Bears Slowpitch Softball team erased a 9-0 deficit against Lake Brantley to defeat the Patriots 12-11 in 8 innings.  The win secures a regular season conference championship and number one seeding in next week's conference tournament.  Winter Springs finally got on the board in the fourth inning thanks to a deep drive over the center field fence by Kiersten Coffman.  The Bears would add three more in the inning thanks in large part to a two-out single from Bridgette Fernandez.  The Bears would score two in the sixth, and, with two outs in the top of the seventh, Katherine Penn hit a towering three-run blast to left center to tie the game.  Claudia Davis would score the decisive run in the top of the eighth on a Brittany Garcia ground out.  Lake Brantley's leadoff hitter singled to start the home-half of the inning.  She moved into scoring position on a slow roller to second before the Bears flashed some serious leather.  Sarah Warder saved the game with a highlight reel catch on an errant throw to record the second out and Katie Mandigo took matters in her own hands recording a swinging strike-out of the Patriots number two hitter.  The Bears will be playing for their third consecutive conference championship beginning next Monday.

Welcome to Winter Springs High School Slowpitch softball.  We feature an eight week regular season consisting of double-headers every Wednesday culminating in a Seminole Athletic Conference championship the week after the regular season.   Winter Springs is the defending Central Florida Slowpitch Champion and has won the title three out of five years.

Tryouts: Every athlete wishing to participate will need to have a physical on file with the Athletic Trainers and an emergency card given to the coaching staff.

Practices:  After the first week of the season practices are limited to Monday and Tuesday after school for two hours.

Equipment:  All players will need to furnish their own glove, cleats and helmets.  We have bats available for use.

If you have any questions please contact Mark Huaman.  You may also contact assitant coach Robert Kerr. For contact information see below.
