HEAD COACH : Ross Bohlken Swimmers Honored at Awards BanquetLast night the WSHS Swim Team held their Awards Banquet at the Tuscawilla Country Club. Every swimmer was recognized for an outstanding season each receiving a WSHS Letter. The Most Improved Swimmer Award went to Audrey Alai and Charlie Grubbs. Coaches Award went to Monika Olenderek and David Margolies. Scholar Athlete Award went to Stephanie Wiedenhofer and David Margolies. Most Outstanding Diver was Margaret Hurt. Most Outstanding Swimmer was Jennifer Keeler and Matt Ori. There were two special awards also presented. Most Enthusiastic went to Chelsea Middleton. Most Competitive Award was shared by Peter D'Amore and Adam Grippin. Congratulations Swimmers! Regional Swim MeetMatt Ori Splashes his way to State Meet District Swim MeetBears Swim to Record Times at District Meet Lead by Seniors Matt Ori and Jennifer Keeler the WSHS Bears Swim Team posted their best swims of the season. Over 89% of the Bears swims were personal best efforts. The Aqua Men finished 4th overall and the Lady Bears placed 6th. Combined the Bears finished 5th. Individually, Matt Ori placed 2nd in the 50 free (new varsity record) and 5th in 100 free, Jennifer Keeler placed 4th in the 50 free and 6th in the 100 free, Freshman Andrea Savino placed 6th in the 100 back. Catalina Davalos, Maddie Gonzalez, Charlie Grubbs, Jason Mammino, David Margolies, Joe Travis, Sarah Richmond, Monika Olenderek, Andrea Savino, Jennifer Keeler and Matt Ori will be competiting in the Regional Swim Meet this Friday. Go Bears Lady Bear Divers place 7th and 8th at district meet. Sept 27 Winter Springs Aqua Men place 2nd at the 2007 Conference Swim Meet. Lead by seniors Matt Ori and David Margolies the WSHS Men's Swim Team placed second just behind Seminole HS. Other top 8 place finishers for Winter Springs were Jacob Mould, Joe Travis, Ross Harrington, Jason Mammino and Mitch Ryerson. In a tightly contested women's team race our Lady Bears finished 5th at this years Conference Meet. Senior, Jennifer Keeler placed 4th in the 50 Free and 5 th in the 100 Free to lead all Lady Bears. Other top 8 finishers include Andrea Savino and Sarah Richmond. Our women divers, Margaret Hurt and Amy Rumbaugh finished 6th and 7th at the Conference Meet held at Lake Brantley. Sept 21 The Bears went down in defeat to Seminole HS in Friday's swim meet but not before posting some of their best swims of the season. Monika Olenderek finished 2nd in both the 100 fly and back swimming best times as she prepares for this weeks conference swim meet. Other Lady Bears to have posted best times were Jamie Roy, Kelly Diamond and Jennifer Traylor in the 200 free, Kelsey Deese in the 100 fly, Katherine Stern in the 100 Free and Catalina Davalos, Stephanie Wiedenhofer and Erin O'Shea in the 500 free. On Sept 12 WSHS men and women swim team rolled to an easy win over Lyman HS. Double event winners were for the Lady Bears; Andrea Savino 200 free and 100 back, Sarah Richmond 200 IM and 100 breast, and Jennifer Keeler 50 and 100 free, For the men Matt Ori won the 200 and 100 free. Way to go Bears! August 29 WSHS swam against Oviedo on Wednesday, August 29 at Oviedo. Matt Ori won the 200 free and 100 fly. He broke the school record in the 100 fly with a time of :57.40 . Jennifer Keeler won the 100 free. Girls results Oviedo 156, WSHS 135, Boys results Oviedo 93, WSHS 146. |
