HEAD COACH : Ross Bohlken September 27, 2008Savino breaks record as Lady Bears win over Hagerty Andrea Savino broke her own varsity record in the 100 back (1.04.65) on her way to winning both the 200 free and 100 back. Co Captain Maddie Gonzalez struck gold twice also by winning the 200 IM and the 100 breast in personal best times. Other Lady Bears swimmers having personal best swims were our NEW distance swimmers Zoe Goldberg 200IM, 500 free, Alex Sheeler 500 free, Chelsea Middleton 200 and 500 free, Elena Williams 500 free, Jennifer Trayler 200 free and 100 breast, and Charmaine Cacho 100 back. Our women diving team lead by Shannon Potter added to their steller season by winning their 4 competition in a row. Rounding out our diving team this year is Amy Rumbaugh, Katlyn and Sara Bushey. In a close meet against Hagerty our Aqua men fell short but not before posting some personal best times. Mitch Ryerson is fast becoming the most versatile swimmer for the Bears as he posted best times in the 200IM and 500 free. Jason Mammino amd Joe Travis swam personal best in the 200 free and 200 IM respectively. Patrick Kirchner had a terrific day swimming best times in the 100 fly and 100 back. Bears next swim meet is Wednesday October 1 at 4pm the Oviedo Aquatic Center. September 18, 2008Lady Bears and Aqua Men Win Big The Aqua Men took care of business in a big way Wednesday night winning every individual event against their swim team rivals Oviedo and Lake Mary. Leading the way was senior co captain Jason Mammino winning both the 50 and the 100 free. Jacob Mould and Joe Travis swam to personal best times while winning both of their individual events. Jacob won the 200 free and 100 breast, Joe won the 200 IM and 100 Back. Mitch Ryerson swam a personal best as he won the 100 fly. In what had to be the most exciting race of the evening John Damore edged out team mate Will Gonzalez in the 500 free by 4 tenths of a second to win the event. On the Ladies side of the pool Kara Reeves and Maddie Gonzalez lead the way for the Lady Bears. Kara swam a personal best time in winning the 100 fly, while Maddie won the 100 breast. Andrea Savino had a solid meet finishing 2nd in the 100 back and 3rd in the 200 free. Distance swimmer Erin O’Shea had a personal best time placing 2nd in the 500 free. Diving sensation Shannon Potter dominated the 1 meter diving competition placing first over Oviedo and Lake Mary. Final Scores: WSHS Aqua Men 156, Lake Mary 52 WSHS Lady Bears 182, Lake Mary 127 |
